Progressive schedules  inform the development of a treatment or efficacy of certain replacement behaviors by determining what reinfocement schedule ultimately increases the replacement behavior and decreases the problem behavior.  They allow a clinician to pinpoint breaking points or turning points for the bx of concern.  

 

Progressive schedules can also be used to determine a hierarchy of reinforcers for a learner which in turn would ideally increase efficacy of the treatment package as a whole
