The one I tried was the counting to 10. I did this internally in my head, but could change this – to have a child/client count on their fingers in order to observe the mindful behavior taking place.
Target Behavior – property destruction that is escape maintained (i.e., work demand – ends in child ripping up papers, throwing chairs, and ripping items off of walls
Replacement Behavior – as part of a “break” plan, could incorporate a mindfulness strategy, so that student is able to escape task demand via taking a break and engaging in counting to 10 on fingers (rather than engaging in property destruction within the classroom).
