  1. Resource equality is not enough if groups of students do not enter school having had the same early childhood experiences as their same-aged peers from more privileged families. Equity of resources would provide these students with more resources to enhance their learning experience.
  2. Promoting social justice can involve increasing teachers’ and other school staff’s awareness that students in impoverished neighborhoods/communities may be exposed to more crime, violence, and day-to-day stress which can negatively impact their learning or to be less “available” to learn.
