1. One of Rothstein’s 4 ways resource equality is not enough has to do with the background knowledge children come to school with. It doesn’t matter what resources the school provides to all students if some are coming in with experiences that they can tie to their learning and begin to make connections. 
  2. In my school the social worker and I work very hard at establishing meaningful home school collaborative relationships and we work with the teachers to do the same. Many times we are helping families on strategies and resources to help empower them with their children who are very challenging. We connect them with other agencies and work with them on carrying over strategies we use in school that might be useful at home. We listen to the families and empathize with the struggles they are having.
