During my initial and re-assessment process I thoroughly discuss with parents what are some skills that their child could learn that are important to them and that would make the greatest impact in their day to day life. I make sure to not only work on skills that the client shows deficits in, but I also include skills which will improve their daily life. I also add goals that will allow the child to come into contact with reinforcement in their daily life outside of therapy sessions in order to maintain replacement behaviors.
