Resurgence of destructive behavior as shown in the article is a transient phenomenon during schedule thinning. One way to reduce this is by increasing exposure to periods which the FCR does not produce reinforcement during schedule thinning. The research also suggests minimizing exposure to the establishing operation for destructive behavior when differential reinforcement interventions are introduced may produce more immediate reductions in destructive behavior. What seems most like the most relevant strategy to use in my workplace would be to not use a fixed interval time but rather implement a gradual decrease but randomize times when the schedule of reinforcement is thick.
