I would not discard the results based on a visual analysis. More consideration may be required to fully evaluate a treatment’s effectiveness. According to the article, “in the presence of negative findings, the researcher will always need to take into account the full context of the study rather than just the finding itself; but if the study is well designed and implemented, the mere presence of negative effects should not preclude publication” (Shadish, p. 670). In the event a study is well designed and does not have a large size effect, publishing these findings add to the scientific enrichment of what is and is not effective.
